Prerequisites: Concepts of animal nutrition and processes in animal feed mills

Quality manager/technician, plant manager, production manager, production planner, sales engineer, maintenance manager, species engineer, nutritionist, formulator

  • Describe the basic mechanisms of the granulation process and the adjustment of a pellet press
  • Identify and manage the factors influencing pellet quality
  • Apply methods for physical characterization of pellets

  • A paper handout is provided at the end of the training

Training program

  • Operation and control of a pellet press
  • Physical quality criteria for pellets: equipment, measurement, and methods
  • Factors influencing these quality criteria

Evaluation and monitoring methods

  • Questionnaire on trainee expectations to be completed before the training, then 3 months later to review changes in practices
  • Educational assessment in the form of a multiple-choice questionnaire at the end of the session
